Shopping List for Staying Balanced

Below are some of my favorite products that I use regularly. I always make sure I use the cleanest ingredients (organic, non-gmo, free of preservatives and fillers) that are ethically and locally sourced when possible. For the sake of convenience, I've posted Amazon links, but I encourage you to try finding ingredients at your local co-op first - support your community when you can!

Protein Powders and Bars

Most protein powders have additives like guar gum, carrageenan, sunflower oil and xanthan gum, all of which cause inflammation. The below options are more expensive, but that is because they're free of ALL of these common hidden toxins. Orgain is not, but is more affordable so I include it. I go for plant-based and not whey, because most people have sensitivities to dairy in the 21st century. I also include collagen in many of my recipes for added nutrients. It's also great in morning tea, as it is unflavored and dissolves easily. Both grass-fed bovine and wild-caught marine collagen options below.

These are MOSTLY clean, but have sunflower oil, making them a much more affordable option than the ones above.

Nut/Seed Butters

These are some examples of clean butters - sprouted and raw are more expensive because they retain the most nutrients and are much more easily digestible. Costco has affordable organic butters (not raw) so always check there first.

Chocolate

Yes, this requires its own section :) There are lots of clean chocolate options out there now but these are my favorites. The Lily's chocolate chips are often at Walmart for really cheap compared to Amazon, fyi.

Sweeteners

Any of these grandulated sweeteners will work in the baked goods from Cookbook, and can be used as a 1:1 replacement for sugar (not the liquids).

Snacks

Don't have to give up snacks when you eat clean!

Superfoods

Add any of these superfoods can be added to smoothies, hot or cold drinks, energy bites, and more for an added boost. These oils are SUPER nutrient-dense and are not meant for cooking - add 1 tbsp to any of the above.

Healthy Cooking Fats & Oils

Oils that directly contribute to disease and inflammation: canola, sunflower, peanut, soy, safflower. Switch to these to reduce your inflammation. I can usually find coconut oil, avocado oil / spray at Costco for much cheaper so check yours!

Clean Drinks

These are some of my favorite drinks that helped me get off coffee, as well as my favorite electrolyte blend to keep you hydrated. Add the powdered coconut milk to hot drinks if you're on the go!

Miscellaneous Pantry Essentials

I keep these items in stock as they're used regularly in my diet. Check out the clean gummies!

Fresh Ingredients

These are fresh items we regularly order from Prime, in addition to our weekly organic veggies.

Appliances/Accessories

As you start making more whole-food based meals, your appliances really start to matter. Once you have a solid high-power immersion blender (like the Vitamix), you can make your own nut butters, nut milks, soups, and so much more. Spending a little extra goes a long way and usually means a better result.

Healthy Lifestyle

Using an infrared sauna is one of the best ways to reduce your toxic load - portable or permanent will work. Replace your toxic scented candles and air-fresheners with a diffuser, essential oils, and/or soy non-toxic candles. Check your products on EWG.org to see the toxic level of all of your products. You are what you eat, breathe, think, and drink.
